What an amazing day at Planet Comicon today in Kansas City! I got my photo taken with the original Black Ranger from The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, William Jones. Hyyah!!! I also had the privilege of meeting Eric Shanower, the creator of Age of Bronze. The books are incredibly well-researched—the obvious result of obsessive dedication. I bought several of the issues he had on display. You can check out the entire series over at Hungry Tiger Press: http://www.hungrytigerpress.com/
New piece I did for my church. Part of a three-week sermon series on the Miracles of Jesus. The first week’s message was about Peter and Jesus walking on water, and what to do when you face “storms” in life. Sumi ink on Bristol 9x12.
I will be this month’s Featured Artist at Crossroads Coffeehouse in Kansas City, showing the watercolor plein air studies I have been doing this fall. Opening is today from 6-10. All 9x12 watercolor on Arches cold press.
Some more of the watercolors.
Series of boards for Caleb Smith. young man has his first encounter with his familiar in the spirit realm.
Second part of Vozmezdie storyboards.
Storyboards done for Vozmezdie (Russian: “retribution”) produced by J. Andrew Bernard. Very fun Project! Russian mob member Kiril tries to go legit, but his past catches up with him. In this scene, Kiril and his friends are out at a bachelor party, while his old mob buddies show up at his house where wife and child are playing in the living room. Written by: Jordan Lee Michael.
Scene I boarded out for Disney Pixar’s The Incredibles a while back. Mr. Incredible drives his mundane car home from his mundane job to his mundane house, and almost loses it when he slips on his son’s skateboard in the driveway.
Storyboard sequence I did a while back from The African Queen (1951), starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. In this scene, their boats gets stuck in the reeds as they are evading Nazis. Done straight from the script. I have not seen the film.
